Description

About the 1080P AHD Number Plate Frame Reversing Camera

AHD signal reverse cameras will NOT work with 99% of monitors and car stereos currently in use. This camera requires a special AHD monitor that can read the AHD signal produced by the camera. Ensure your AHD monitor or recorder can handle 1080P AHD inputs.  If you do not have a confirmed AHD monitor, then please purchase instead from our large range of high resolution traditional cameras.

We have stocked two versions of this reversing camera (from the same factory) for a number of years now.  This is the highest spec version using a relatively new technology called AHD.  AHD is an open source Analogue High Definition technology that has become dominant in the industry.

The factory that produces this camera is the only factory we would trust to produce this cylindrical style reversing camera.  Similar looking cameras are notorious for leaking.  The cameras that come from the factory we use just simply don't have this issue.  We pay around double the price of other factories similar looking products, but in terms of build quality, reliability, and performance, it is well worth the extra.  You get what you pay for.

The rotatable cylinder camera is installed in to a UK/EU standard size numberplate frame. This is fitted with lots of cut out grooves, which should merry up with the holes of your original fixing screws for the numberplate. This makes installation very quick and easy.

The viewing angle is very wide (150 degrees), yet this does not appear "fish bowl" thanks to its high quality Aspheric lens that straightens out the picture despite the wide angle.  This means you can see both down to your bumper and behind your vehicle.  Loosening the two front screws allows the camera to be rotated up/down to get the best viewing angle, once you have the perfect view simply tighten these screws back up.

This AHD version is still relatively new for us, but we have fitters that are shocked and amazed by how good this reversing cameras image quality is.  Even on a dark, stormy day, the picture almost looks like the weather is nice and bright (one of our customers sent us a good image that we have used).  This is because of how good the Galaxy Core GC2053 chipset performs.

If you are looking for an AHD monitor then please see our AHD monitors category.

If you can not fit the AHD version e.g. you wish to link to a car stereo, then we stock two other traditional technology versions of this camera below:

How to fit the number plate frame reverse camera to your vehicle

This camera is very easy to install.

1. Unscrew your existing number plate from your vehicle

2. Slide the number plate in to the new number plate frame camera

3. Fix the number plate + frame camera to the vehicle using the original screws

4. Make a small channel on the number plate light to allow the wire to enter the vehicle without getting crushed (or use the attached grommet).

See our video below to see the installation of the number plate reversing camera. For best viewing, ensure the playback quality is set to HD.
