Adaptor 680C – Obserview CM680C Retention Adaptor Cable for Auto-Trail Motorhomes | Adaptor 680C

This adaptor cable has been designed for one very specific job: to recover the video signal from the Obserview CM680C control box used on older ceiling-mounted reversing systems in many Auto-Trail motorhomes that have the 8-pin monitor connector. It plugs into the original 8-pin factory cable and separates the individual signals out into standard video, power and trigger connections, ready to feed into a new monitor wiring loom.

On most vans the CM680C control box is hidden away on the driver’s side of the vehicle, usually in a cupboard behind the driver and often above kitchen cupboards or similar storage areas. We provide a clear photo of the CM680C box in the product images – please locate your original control box and confirm that the label and layout match exactly. The adaptor is only suitable where the box is marked CM680C and looks like the one shown. The CM680C box itself is not supplied with this listing. (Kindly note that a similar box with the sticker CM-680D is NOT supported by this cable).

Once fitted, the breakout leads from Adaptor 680C can be connected into the channel inputs and 12 V power input of the new monitor’s wiring harness. The two 4 pin aviation plugs provides the rescued video feeds (you likely will only have one that has a signal), the DC barrel plug supplies power, and the remaining connectors can be matched to the inputs on your chosen monitor. The green wire on Adaptor 680C is designed to be joined to the reverse trigger wire on the new monitor loom so that the existing reverse signal from the CM680C box is reused to switch the new screen on automatically when reverse gear is selected. (If you are not connecting the DC power or green trigger wire power to anything make sure you cover them with insulation tape to securely keep them from shorting out against anything).

Important compatibility warning: this adaptor is for Obserview CM680C boxes only. Do not purchase or install this cable unless you are 100 percent certain that your control box is the CM680C model shown in our photos. It is not suitable for other Obserview part numbers, different Auto-Trail camera systems, or any other brand of control box, and using it on the wrong equipment may result in a system that does not work correctly.

This adaptor is intended for customers who wish to retain their existing camera and CM680C control box while upgrading to a modern monitor of their choice. Basic DIY skills are usually sufficient, but if you are unsure about identifying the CM680C box, joining trigger wires or matching the new monitor connections, we recommend having the installation checked or carried out by a competent auto-electrician.
