Description

VW Transporter T5 Tailgate Brake Light Reversing Camera (CVBS 700 TVL) | CAM562

This brake light reversing camera is designed to be an exact fit for the Volkswagen Transporter T5 tailgate models (2003–2015). It replaces the original high-level brake light unit, keeping a tidy factory-fitted appearance while giving you a clear and reliable reversing view that works with the vast majority of aftermarket systems.

The camera uses our long-proven PC4089 image sensor, paired with a high-quality all-glass composite lens, producing a clear and reliable 700 TVL CVBS image with good colour and contrast. We’ve used this sensor for many years because we know it performs reliably to a high standard, and it outperforms a lot of the lower-spec versions commonly found in brake light cameras. The housing is fully sealed to IP69K, making it well suited to vans that live outside and work all year round.

Key features

Tidy factory look – Designed to sit exactly where the original high-level brake light fits, keeping a neat OEM-style finish.

Easy installation using original mounting points – The camera re-uses the vehicle’s original fixing points, making installation straightforward with no drilling or irreversible modifications required.

Clear and reliable CVBS (NTSC) image using upgraded PC4089 sensor – Outputs a standard CVBS NTSC video signal, so it works with the vast majority of aftermarket reversing camera monitors, dash displays and head units. The PC4089 sensor delivers a clear and reliable 700 TVL picture with natural colours and good contrast, chosen for long-term performance.

High-quality all-glass composite lens – Uses an all-glass composite lens rather than the more common plastic-glass lenses seen elsewhere. It holds its clarity over time and avoids the UV sun-fade and “milky” look we see far too often with cheaper alternatives.

170° diagonal wide viewing angle – Gives a wide, usable view behind the vehicle to help spot obstacles, posts and people when reversing.

IP69K waterproof construction – Built to a very high ingress protection level for year-round use. It’s designed to cope with the worst the British weather can throw at it.

Optional 4-pin to RCA adaptor – Available as an option for connecting to aftermarket head units or displays that use standard RCA/phono video inputs.

Optional extension cables – Extension cable options are available to suit everything from short vans through to longer conversions.

UK tested and supplied with a 2-year Revcamuk guarantee – With almost 20 years in the reversing camera industry, we’ve worked with a lot of factories. These brake light cameras come from one of the best manufacturers we use and are fully supported with our 2-year Revcamuk guarantee. If a non-user-damage fault develops within two years, we’ll replace the camera to keep you reversing safely.

Detailed Images

The reverse camera will fit where the original high-level stop lamp was. This will still function as a brake light, as well as giving enhanced safety with the improved rear vision.

There could be a number of reasons they may be cheaper than us, the most common are below :

  • Rejected Production Runs - This is more common on the marketplaces where there are a lot of non-UK businesses (although the stock is often in the UK). When one of the larger factories produces a camera they will age-test a batch to ensure that the quality is sufficiently high to be able to send to their big customers (like us). If a production run fails this test with a high enough number having issues, the whole batch is often sold off for "recycling" the components. Sadly, these get placed in a container setting sail to the UK and other destinations, and eventually listed on a marketplace at crazy low prices - lower than we can buy hundreds at a time for. Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are not, depending on how badly the batch failed.
  • Cheaper Components Used - There are different standards of image sensor, support chips, lenses and camera bodies. We opt for better quality; the results speak for themselves. We didn't earn our reputation by buying as cheap as we could; it's not what our customers want. Although at the same time we really do keep our prices as low as possible. The cheaper prices help us to sell more volume, which means we can bring the cameras in by ocean shipping, saving freight costs, which we pass to the consumer.
  • Produced by a "Factory for the day" - We have seen some shocking quality cameras sent to us over the years by customers. There is a phenomenon in China where someone can rent factory space for a day or two in order to complete a production run. Often this is a factory employee that is trying to go it alone and start his own business. Sadly, they don't often have the best engineers, they usually buy the lowest price/quality components, have the lowest standard of production line worker, and they can't afford to reject a bad production run. These usually either end up on a Marketplace or sold directly from a Chinese website.

In short, trust us to find the best quality and support you for safety and peace of mind.
