Description

1080P AHD Black Roof-Overhang Twin-Lens Rear-View & Reversing Camera

This twin-lens 1080P AHD roof-overhang camera is designed for vans, motorhomes and larger vehicles that benefit from a high mounting point. The dual-lens design gives you two completely separate HD camera views: an upper lens optimised for constant rear-view driving and a lower lens with a wider angle and IR night vision for reversing manoeuvres. Both lenses use 1080P AHD C2399-based sensors for crisp detail and improved visibility in day and low-light conditions.

The housing mounts neatly over the top edge of rear doors or an upper lip/overhang. This elevated position provides a clean, unobstructed perspective of the road and surrounding areas behind the vehicle, making it particularly suitable for long panel vans with high barn doors, box vans, luton vans and coachbuilt motorhomes. The camera is IP68 rated and built around 4-pin aviation connectors, making it a robust option for year-round use on working and leisure vehicles.

For customers who need additional reach for difficult mounting locations, we offer a polished stainless-steel extension plate (ACC345) designed specifically for this camera. This can be added for a low additional cost. You can view the plate here: ACC345 Extension Plate for Roof-Overhang Camera.

AHD compatibility notice

Please note: This is a high-definition 1080P AHD camera. It must be used with a monitor or display that supports AHD video input.
Standard definition (CVBS) screens will not display an image from this camera.

If your monitor does not support AHD, you may prefer our standard-definition version:

If you are unsure about compatibility, feel free to contact us before ordering.

Key features

Twin-Lens Design for Driving and Reversing - The upper lens is set up as a rear-view driving camera, providing a more natural perspective on following traffic, while the lower lens is optimised for reversing with a much wider field of view. Each lens has its own 4-pin video output.

1080P AHD C2399-Based Sensors - Both lenses use 1/2.7" C2399 1080P AHD CMOS sensors delivering a true 1920 × 1080 image. The result is a detailed, modern HD picture that is a clear step up from older SD CVBS cameras, with good colour accuracy and clarity in real-world conditions.

Upper Driving Lens – Narrower View for Natural Perspective - The upper lens uses a 2.6 mm optics set with a narrower field of view (approximately 71° vertical, 86° horizontal, 111° diagonal). This is ideal for an always-on rear-view image, helping you judge distance to following traffic more naturally than you would with an ultra-wide lens.

Lower Reversing Lens – Wide View with IR Night Vision - The lower lens uses a 1.9 mm wide-angle lens (approximately 92° vertical, 135° horizontal, 162° diagonal) to give generous coverage directly behind the vehicle. It includes 8 IR LEDs for night vision, providing a usable image up to around 10 m behind the vehicle when reversing in low-light conditions.

Low-Light and Night-Time Performance - The lower reversing lens switches to IR-assisted black-and-white at night. The IR illumination is only visible to the camera and will not shine bright visible light at other road users.

High-Mount Overhang Housing - The roof-overhang design places the camera high and central over the rear of the vehicle, giving a clear, unobstructed view of the area behind. It works especially well on panel vans with rear barn doors, luton bodies, coachbuilt motorhomes and box vans.

IP68 Waterproof Housing - IP68 waterproof housing, proven to withstand the worst the British weather can throw at it. Suitable for full-time outdoor use on working vans and motorhomes that live outside all year round.

4-Pin Aviation Connectors – One Per Lens - Each lens has its own 4-pin aviation connector for a secure, vibration-resistant connection back to the monitor or DVR. This makes it easy to pair with AHD split-screen monitors or MDVR systems that support dual 1080P AHD inputs.

Optional ACC345 Stainless-Steel Extension Plate - Where the standard housing footprint does not quite reach the mounting surface, you can add the ACC345 stainless-steel extension plate. This gives extra reach and support on deeper or more complex overhangs.

Two-Year Reversing Cameras UK Guarantee - Supplied with our two-year Reversing Cameras UK guarantee for added peace of mind.

Extension cable options

This camera uses standard 4-pin aviation connectors for each lens and can be paired with our range of 4-pin extension cables to suit different installation routes. Typical lengths for vans and motorhomes are 10 m and 15 m, but other lengths are available in our range. Choose the cable lengths that best suit your installation from the options at checkout, or contact us if you are unsure which to select.

RCA adaptor set option

If your monitor or stereo head unit uses RCA inputs, an optional discounted adaptor bundle can be added. It includes:

  • 1 × CAB0020 4-pin to RCA adaptor (video and power breakout)
  • 1 × CAB101 1.5 m power lead with inline fuse (red +12 V and black earth)
  • 1 × RCA/Phono coupler for converting male-to-male RCA connections

This provides everything needed to connect either camera output to an RCA-based monitor, with the option to use a split-screen monitor or separate inputs if required.

Detailed Images

This camera outputs a true 1080P AHD signal, so you’ll need a monitor that supports AHD high-definition input. Standard analogue (CVBS) monitors won’t display the image properly.

Yes — it’s specifically designed for roof overhang mounting on larger vehicles such as vans, motorhomes, lorries and HGVs.

You’ll get full HD resolution (1920×1080) from the sensor, with a driving camera lens for the rearview, and a reversing-camera lens for the parking view.

Yes — the housing is rated IP68 and is built for exterior use on large vehicles. It handles heavy rain, road spray, and the UK’s inclement weather without issues.

Extension cable lengths such as 10 m or 15 m twin signal options are available to terminate in 2x 4 pin, or by adding RCA adaptors to convert these for a stereo or RCA / Phono Monitor.
