About this camera

We used to stock a similar reversing camera many years ago. When we found this one, which had the higher quality image sensor options available we gladly ordered some. These were always a popular, easy to fit option for people wanting a small, discreet camera. The actual camera part itself is only 22mm deep and 18mm in height, it is attached to a bracket that is mostly hidden behind the number plate itself. You have the option of using screws to attach this, or my preference is either an adhesive sealant, or some very strong tape such as Scotch Red.

• The camera bracket can be bent slightly to tilt viewing down, or kept angled straight back to view following traffic.
• The camera is supplied with both a 4-pin screw connector and an RCA phono connector. You can select which to use by swapping at the 6.5 mm disconnect point located about 60 cm back from the camera. Please note the camera also has a non-waterproof power regulator at the same distance — this must be installed in a dry, protected area (for example, inside a tailgate) to prevent premature failure.
• The camera is waterproof up to IP68.
• The approximate viewing angle of the camera is 150 degrees (diagonal).
• The camera is mirror image, this means that it will replicate what you expect to see in your normal mirrors, although this can be converted to non-mirror by cutting a trigger wire on the camera fly lead.
• The camera has static guidelines, these can be removed by cutting a trigger wire on the camera fly lead.
• The camera works on a 12V power supply from the monitor.  12/24V monitors usually reduce the supply voltage down the 4 pin plug to 12V (all of the monitors we've ever stocked do).
• The camera provides a colour image. The image sensor is to a high spec, see below for more details on this.

Please note that although the image sensor is what we would usually see on Premium cameras due to the high resolution, we have labelled this camera "budget" as we feel the image quality isn't as high as a premium camera should be.  We have also reduced the price to account for this.
