Ford Transit Dual-View Brake Light Reversing and Rear-View Camera (CVBS 700 TVL) | CAM1733TWThe CAM1733TW CVBS twin-lens brake light camera is designed to give you both a clear reversing image and a useful rear-view driving picture, so it remains helpful throughout the journey rather than only when backing up. It replaces the upper brake light on Ford Transit (2014–present), including Tailgate and Tourneo Custom models, and houses two separate cameras inside a single OEM-style unit. The downward-facing camera is angled to monitor the area directly behind the vehicle when reversing, while the second camera looks further down the road to provide a rear-view image while driving. Both cameras use our long-proven PC4089 image sensor, paired with high-quality all-glass composite lenses, producing clear and reliable 700 TVL CVBS images with good colour and contrast. We’ve used this sensor for many years because we know it performs reliably to a high standard and it outperforms many lower-down versions commonly found elsewhere. Key featuresDual-view twin-lens design – Two separate cameras built into one brake light housing, providing a dedicated reversing camera and a separate rear-view camera for use while driving. Dedicated reversing and rear-view camera angles – The reversing camera is angled downwards for close-range manoeuvring, while the rear-view camera uses a narrower angle to give a more natural driving perspective. Clear and reliable CVBS (NTSC) image from twin PC4089 sensors – Both cameras output standard CVBS NTSC video signals, making them compatible with the vast majority of aftermarket reversing camera monitors, dash displays and head units. The upgraded PC4089 sensors deliver clear and reliable 700 TVL images with natural colours and good contrast, selected for long-term performance. High-quality all-glass composite lenses – Uses all-glass composite lenses rather than plastic-glass alternatives. This helps maintain clarity over time and avoids the UV sun-fade and softening issues commonly seen with cheaper lenses. Infrared night vision on the reversing camera – The downward-facing reversing camera is fitted with infrared LEDs to assist when reversing in low-light conditions or complete darkness. OEM-style brake light design – Replaces the original brake light unit for a tidy, factory-fitted appearance. IP68 waterproof construction – Fully sealed IP68 housing, proven to withstand the worst the British weather can throw at it and suitable for year-round outdoor use. Supplied with 7-pin main cable and splitter adaptor – Supplied as standard with a 10 m 7-pin main cable and a 7-pin to 2 × 4-pin adaptor. The 7-pin cable can be removed if preferred and standard 4-pin cabling used via the adaptor. Optional RCA connection and extension cables – Optional 4-pin to RCA adaptors and 10 m to 15 m extension cables are available to suit different installation requirements and longer vehicles. Our reverse camera will fit the same location/entry point as the original brake light. The original lights plug will be inserted into the new brake light reverse camera to keep the high-level brake light working well.
There could be a number of reasons they may be cheaper than us, the most common are below :
- Rejected Production Runs - This is more common on the marketplaces where there are a lot of non-UK businesses (although the stock is often in the UK). When one of the larger factories produces a camera they will age-test a batch to ensure that the quality is sufficiently high to be able to send to their big customers (like us). If a production run fails this test with a high enough number having issues, the whole batch is often sold off for "recycling" the components. Sadly, these get placed in a container setting sail to the UK and other destinations, and eventually listed on a marketplace at crazy low prices - lower than we can buy hundreds at a time for. Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are not, depending on how badly the batch failed.
- Cheaper Components Used - There are different standards of image sensor, support chips, lenses and camera bodies. We opt for better quality; the results speak for themselves. We didn't earn our reputation by buying as cheap as we could; it's not what our customers want. Although at the same time we really do keep our prices as low as possible. The cheaper prices help us to sell more volume, which means we can bring the cameras in by ocean shipping, saving freight costs, which we pass to the consumer.
- Produced by a "Factory for the day" - We have seen some shocking quality cameras sent to us over the years by customers. There is a phenomenon in China where someone can rent factory space for a day or two in order to complete a production run. Often this is a factory employee that is trying to go it alone and start his own business. Sadly, they don't often have the best engineers, they usually buy the lowest price/quality components, have the lowest standard of production line worker, and they can't afford to reject a bad production run. These usually either end up on a Marketplace or sold directly from a Chinese website.
