Sharp CCD Polished S/Steel Bracket Wireless Rear Camera Kit with 7" mirror monitor | DW38
Description
About this kitThis kit combines our popular mirror monitor, a digital wireless receiver and a camera that has an integrated aerial built in. Simply provide power to the monitor wiring harness (this can be done with an optional lighter plug or by hard wiring), then screw in the receiver to the end of this 3M long wiring harness (no extra power supply required). The receiver box can usually be hidden in the glovebox, down by the passenger footwell or underneath a seat. The camera is our Sharp 1/3" CCD 600TVL polished stainless steel bracket camera and comes coupled with a digital wireless transmitter. The transmitter powers the camera, so just screw the camera tail in to the transmitter tail and then provide power to this sender box. Most people fit the transmitter box inside the trailer/caravan (in caravans it's usually hidden in a rear cupboard). Digital Wireless Vs Older Analogue WirelessThis wireless reversing camera kit uses digital wireless technology, which is significantly better than the older analogue wireless (which is somehow still about today). Below is some information about the differences:
Who Should use Wireless? We recommend using wireless reversing camera kits for trailers and caravans. This makes fitting easier, as you don't have to install cables and a trailer link. If you have a modern car, van, or motorhome, then we recommend using a cabled reversing camera kit instead. This is because these modern vehicles don't often have non-canbus ignition switched power supplies to tap off. On caravans/trailers it is not an issue to tap off things like side lights to power the sender/camera as the car doesn't run canbus checks on trailer lights. Modular SystemThese kits are made up as a modular system which means they are very flexible. The camera can be replaced at any time for a different model if desired with the digital wireless links not needing to be replaced. If you wish to add a second camera you can. The second camera can be wireless or cabled. We get lots of people who buy the wireless kit for the caravan and add a 4 pin cable and 4 pin camera to the order to allow them to use the system as a normal car reversing camera when they aren't towing. Another advantage of the system is that if after the 2 year warranty you have a problem with lets say the camera, you can purchase a replacement camera at a low price vs the cameras with built in wifi links which can be much dearer. The receiver simply screws to the monitors wiring and the monitor provides power to it and the transmitter simply screws to the camera and when you provide power to the transmitter this powers itself and the camera. Image Sensor for CameraAn image sensor is the part of the camera that detects and captures information to make an image, there are various sizes of sensor usually between 1/4" and 1/3" with the larger sensors able to capture more detail. In the old days, you used to have to pick CCD for quality as CMOS wasn't as good, this has changed recently with some advancements in CMOS technology (there are varying quality levels of CMOS to confuse matters). In this particular kit, we are using the Sharp 1/3" CCD 600TVL image sensor inside the camera. We consider this the joint second-best image sensor in terms of picture quality you can get on a reversing camera. Anti-Corrosion Stainless Steel Camera BracketThe camera has a polished stainless steel bracket, which is shown to last a very long time without corrosion unlike mild steel we have seen from most other retailers, which tends to rust in a matter of a few months. Monitor has Digital LCD Panel - Not Standard LCDThe monitor uses a Hi-Res digital panel screen with more than 3 times the amount of pixels of the standard analogue LCD screens most other retailers sell. (Please note some sellers multiply the first number by 3 for RGB, if we were to do that it sounds even more impressive (2400x480). We prefer to keep it simple but check carefully our competitors, the last number is normally better to go by as this is the number of vertical lines of pixels. 2 Year GuaranteeWe supply with a 2 year Guarantee with us, meaning we will repair or replace any non-user damaged parts that are deemed faulty. Our failure rate is very low even beyond these two years, if you have a problem outside of 2 years we should still have compatible parts and possible repairs for reasonable amounts. Parts Tested in the UKThe parts of this kit will have been tested twice, once by the factory and once by us. We check all the items in the kit including all wiring, digital links, trigger wires, IR leds and menu functions to reduce any chance of having a non working part. Our fault rate is extremely low, and we just like to ensure that we avoid any imperfection slipping past. This is why professional fitters love us. |

Absolutely! The majority of people set it up this way. Our main customers for wireless kits are caravan owners. As a previous caravan owner myself, I found using one of our digital wireless kits made driving whilst towing so much easier. The camera gave me confidence when changing lanes, allowed me to be aware of drivers "tucked in" behind me, and allowed me to reverse back with ease when taking wrong turns.
We have yet to be defeated by a rig that has been too big for our digital wireless systems. We used to use a 40M system previously, and this was more than capable, our base level uses 60M spec chips, which is ample.
If the camera is being fitted to either a trailer or caravan then most people will use running/side lights, or a fridge supply. If the vehicle fitting to is a motorhome, then you would need to locate a non-canbus power supply that switches off when the ignition is off.
