CAB044DC – 4-Pin Reversing Camera Splitter with Independent DC Power Input (2 Monitors)

This is a 4-pin aviation reversing camera splitter adaptor designed to send one camera feed to two monitors, whilst powering the camera(s) from an independent 2.1 mm DC input rather than from either monitor.

This is ideal for motorhome and campervan setups where you may have a front monitor for driving and a second monitor at the rear for when you’re parked up. Because the camera power is supplied separately, you can use either monitor on its own without having to power the other monitor just to make the camera come on.

The most common use we see is customers wanting to keep an eye on what’s going on around the vehicle when it’s not in transit, for example checking outside at night. Some users choose to provide power from either the front or rear via a switch that they supply themselves, so they can simply flick power on whenever needed.

This splitter works just as well with standard definition (CVBS) cameras and monitors as it does with AHD high definition systems.

Power options
If you are powering a single splitter/camera setup, you can use a simple fused DC power lead:

For added protection, especially when taking power from an ignition feed, we also offer a voltage regulator which helps keep any electrical spikes under control:

Multiple cameras or multiple splitter adaptors
If you are running two, three or four cameras/adaptors, it is often easier to make one power connection and split it. You can do this by using either the fused lead or the voltage regulator above, combined with one of the following DC splitters:

2-way DC splitter:

4-way DC splitter:

As with any signal-splitting setup, very long cable runs can increase resistance and may affect performance. We haven’t seen issues in real-world use, but it is worth bearing in mind on more complex installations.

If you’re unsure which monitors, cameras or power options are best for your setup, please contact us and we’ll be happy to advise.
